Thanks. Presonus StudioOne (v 4.5) at the moment. Seems to do the trick.

I find myself doing the same thing a lot of times. I stay on one part of a track and end up trying so many different things. Then it doesn't end up sounding how I want it until I just realize I should maybe keep it simple. And then it usually turns out fine. Just try not to overthink stuff while creating.
